Preparation Time: 10 min
Chilling Time: Overnight
Level: Easy
Category: Desserts
Serves: 6
INGREDIENTS
- 3 tbsp Dulce de leche or as required ( Click here for recipe)
- 4 ripe bananas
- 5 to 6 Shortbread or 2 small sponge cakes
- 200 ml Whipping cream, chilled
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- a pinch of sea salt
- Vanilla extract
- Wash, clean and assemble the baby jars (or similar jars).
- Crush the shortbread into a coarse powder using a mortar and pestle. You can alternately pulse it in a mixer or crush it inside a Ziploc bag using a pestle.
- Divide the mixture to six equal portions and transfer it to the baby jars to form the bottom layer. Press down to firm. Refrigerate immediately and proceed to the next step.
- Scoop out 3 tbsp Dulce-de-leche into a microwave safe container and heat on power medium until it becomes saucy but not too hot.
- Whip the powdered sugar and whipping cream until it forms soft peaks. Add vanilla extract.
- Halve it and add half of the melted Dulce-de-leche, sea salt and mix well to incorporate. Reserve what is left for topping.
- Melt chocolate chips with butter in microwave for 1 min to make a sauce.
- Slice ripe bananas into thin coins.
- Get the jars out of the refrigerator. Start building the layers by adding the left over Dulce-de-leche over the short bread layer followed by chocolate sauce, whipped cream and Dulce-de-leche cream and finally with the sliced bananas.
- Finish off by dusting some Homemade Hot chocolate mix ( click for recipe) and more Dulce-de-leche on top and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Oh goodness! I am dying here thanks to the overload of sugar in the morning! Really amazing... :)
