5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE - EGGLESS MICRO ( WAVE) COOKING
Hello there!! If you are on a diet regime, then I am terribly sorry. This 5 minute Chocolate Mug Cake recipe is not for you. If you do try, then I warn you, you cant't stop with one serving. It definitely tempts you for more. The recipe is very simple, tried, tested, tasted by many and never failing.
Ever since I saw this recipe on Nag's page I have been wanting to try this. For those who don't know her-Nags is a very popular food blogger and owns Edible Garden ( her passion). She is known for her baking skills, photography and writing style and Edible Garden is on my top ten blog reader's list. I never miss any updates from her.
I tried the cake at my Mother's place during my visit to India this time. The first attempt was a grand success and the cake was devoured within minutes of preparation. I baked these again for some of my very close friends in Coimbatore and they all liked it. The most exciting part about this recipe is that the result is great with minimum efforts taken. Follow the recipe verbatim and Lo! you are a good baker henceforth. Thanks for the recipe Nags.
Preparation Time: 3 min Cooking time : 2 minutes Serves : 2 Calories per serving : 280
INGREDIENTS
Plain Flour .......................................... 4 tbsp
Brown Sugar ....................................... 5 tbsp
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder ................. 2 tbsp
Baking Powder .................................... 1 tsp
Plain Yoghurt/ curd .............................. 3 tbsp
Milk .................................................... 3 tbsp
Butter (Unsalted) .................................. 3 tbsp
Salt ..................................................... a pinch
Vanilla essence ..................................... few drops
- Assemble all the ingredients. Pick two Microwave safe coffee mugs with good depth. Exactly halve the above mentioned dry ingredients ie flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt and add them to your coffee mugs. Mix well.
- Repeat the same with the milk, butter, vanilla essence and yogurt and add it to the mug. Now mix from the bottom until you get a smooth batter without lumps.
- Some of the batter will get smeared on to the sides of your mug. But it is ok. Put the mug into the microwave (one at a time) and heat it on medium heat for 2 minutes. Mine was almost done within 1 min 40 secs. Remove and allow it to cook for a few more seconds. Repeat the same with the next mug.
- Congratulations!. You have baked a cake and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!.
- Weight watchers....... you must go for a salad diet on your next meal if you are going for this recipe. ALL THE BEST.
- I loved this gooey picture I clicked.
- The cake was finished in less than 5 minutes.
NOTES
- Read your microwave instruction manual thoroughly. It gives a better picture about heating intensities because it varies between equipment.
- The original recipe calls for 2 minute cooking. But mine was lesser than that. So, I suggest you first cook for a minute and 30 secs. Insert a tooth pic and check. If it is still undone, then cook for few more seconds.
- Remember that the cake will be really hot after you take it out as the food continues to cook due to the microwave heat even after switching off the oven. You will have to wait for few minutes before you eat. Else you can burn your mouth.
- This is an egg less version. Please refer to Edible Garden if you want egg in your recipe.
- I was in a hurry to try the cake. So I have not added any additives like nuts or chocolate chips to it.
- Try adding toasted walnut or hazelnut bits to the batter for that real Mug brownie effect. Serve warm topped with whipped cream or a scoop of Vanilla ice cream and salted caramel drizzle.
- You could even add strawberry ,raspberry, blueberry or candied orange peels for a fruity twist.
oh sowmya ,this is soo mouth watering:)
