KOTHAMALLI PACHHADI

Hey All,

If you are longing for a delicious recipe that you can cook in minutes, then read ahead!! I can assure you that it saves you from your mundane kitchen routine for a day ( meal)!! And would you not love a fragrant green recipe, so soothing and so tempting??Whip up this super quick Kothamalli Pachhadi        ( I learnt from my loving MIL) for lunch or dinner that your family would love to have to with rice, parathas or chapathis - you try for yourself but do taste a spoonful first for your best choice of combos!!

Preparation and Cooking time : 10 minutes                                     Serves : 4

Recipe Source:  Smt. Manjula ( My MIL)

Ingredients

Fresh Coriander Leaves............................................ 1 bunch
Coconut.................................................................. 2 handful
Green Chillies.......................................................... 2 to 4
Asafoetida............................................................... 3 to 4 pinches
Mustard Seeds........................................................  1 tsp
Urad Dhal...............................................................  1 tsp
Red chillies.............................................................  1 no ( optional)
Salt........................................................................  to taste
Oil.........................................................................  1 tbsp
Natural Yoghurt/Curd............................................... 100 gms

Method
  • Wash the coriander leaves well and chop them. Add two handful of coconut, green chillies, asafoetida and salt and grind into a smooth paste.

  • Collect the paste in a serving dish. Add curd little by little and churn well. You ll get a consistency of a batter.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds, urad dhal and the red chilli. Pour the tempered mixture into the Kothamalli Pachhadi. Pour back the Pachhadi into the hot kadai for two minutes to slightly warm it. Need not boil. Or microwave it for 10 seconds.
  • ALL DONE!! Mix a big spoonful of  KP with rice and enjoy.

I am sending this to Nivedhanams  announced Event  South Indian Cooking Series of Anu's Healthy Kitchen..

Notes
  • The quantity of curd should be lesser than the coriander paste. Otherwise it becomes like Mor Kuzhambu. Taste the Pachhadi while adding the curd. You ll know when to stop adding more to it.
  • Eggplant fry, Potato fry or Ivy gourd fry with Appalam are the best accompaniments along with KP. You can also try it along with Sliced Potato Curry .
